The Lenox Contra Dance organizers
Welcome
Our next dance will be our annual Holiday Double Dance and Pockluck, Saturday, December 21st, with Music by The Russet Trio - Aldo Lavaggi (fiddle and mandolin), Peter Madsen (guitar and percussion), Stuart Kenney (bass), with caller Sarah VanNorstrand. Festivities will begin at 5:00; scroll down to the schedule below for details. Roles will be Larks and Robins.
Come join us contra dancing to live music. We have a different band and caller each month. Dances are held on Third Saturday nights in Lenox, Massachusetts in the Lenox Community Center, at 65 Walker Street. Experience the pleasure of dancing on a beautiful wood floor, in a high-ceiling second floor (handicap accessible) ballroom with a raised stage.
Admission is $12-15 for adults and $8-10 for students. New Dancers - 2nd dance
free!
Dances begin with a 15 minute beginner introduction at 7:15 followed by dancing from 7:30 to 10:30. Refreshments are offered during the social break from dancing. All the dances are taught. No partner necessary. Come alone or bring friends.
Please do not come to a dance if you have any symptoms or recently tested positive for COVID-19 or were in close contact with someone who recently tested positive.
2025 Sustaining Memberships
We are again inviting dancers who feel committed to the Lenox Contra Dance to become Sustaining Members for 2025. Sustaining memberships continue to provide real stability for our finances. They support our confidently booking performers months ahead, give us flexibility with the size of bands (as this is a significant, variable expense), and smooth out our finances between well attended and less well attended dances.
Aside from our finances, folks who have become Sustaining Members enjoy the ease of coming to a dance, checking in at the table and heading right into the hall. As folks use cash less-and-less, this avoids wondering if you have the cash to pay each time.
For 2025, Sustaining Memberships, at $150 (or more) per person (the cost of ten dances) provides entry to all of our dances for 2025. This includes the double-session Holiday Dance in December. It’s a great deal for the dance, and the dancers. Sustaining memberships will be available through the January 18, 2025 dance. We will maintain a list at the dance for when you arrive.
Current 2024 Sustainers: As we were not able to hold our July and August dances, your sustaining memberships for 2024 will be good through the March 15, 2025 dance. If you want to continue as Sustainers through 2025, the cost will be $120, the cost of eight dances for nine months.
Memberships can be bought at the dance, or by sending a check made out to: Lenox Contra
Dance, c/o Linda Coll, 60 North St. #5, Dalton, MA 01226
Please include your name, address, email and amount enclosed, or print and fill out this form to enclose with the check.
Thank you on behalf of everyone who enjoys the monthly Lenox Contra Dance.
